Seven students in the state passed the chartered accountant (CA) final exams conducted in November 2022, informed The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI), Goa, on Wednesday.

ICAI, Goa, chairperson Thomas Andrade said, “It is a very positive outcome for the state that so many students have qualified as CA’s in one attempt, since we know that the exams are normally very tough.”

The successful candidates are, Abma Patki, Ameya Audi, Arantxa Mascarenhas, Jaee Ramani, Jeetesh Haldaonkar, Nimisha Tailor, Prerna Phadke, Sanket Singbal and Sarvesh Marathe The newly qualified CAs are from all parts of Goa. While some of them have parents from accounts or tax field, many are from very humble backgrounds, revealed ICAI- Goa.

According to the ICAI, the CA course presently is one of the most affordable courses across India. Not only is the course affordable, students get stipend while learning at CA’s offices for three years, so they earn while they learn. The stipend is likely to be doubled as per the revised proposed scheme”“We hope that, the success of the 7 students will inspire local youth from across Goa to take up this profession,” added ICAI- Goa, vice chairperson Milind Shirodkar.

The seven students are set to do well professionally as there is a huge demand and less supply for CAs in the state. Several companies are struggling to appoint CAs.
