Indian Customs leveraging technology for Trade Facilitation New Delhi, Jan 28 (KNN) Celebrating the International Customs Day (IDC) on 26th January, the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) showcased steps taken by the body to achieve fully digital customs under its “Turant Customs” programme via Twitter.

The Turant customs programme enables a single window interface for facilitating trade (SWIFT) which includes: Faceless, Paperless, and Contactless Customs clearance processes.

Reduced interface with governmental agencies, easy registration process, faster and uniform clearance are some of the key features of the programme.

It also emphasised on E-SANCHIT enables e-storage and handling of documents and

Turant Suvidha Kendras (TSKs) for customs locations and query handling, fully automated queue of bills of entry for automatic OOC (out of charge) process, and an e-gate pass.

Internationally, the World Customs Organisation organised an event around the theme ‘Scaling up Customs Digital Transformation by Embracing a Data Culture and Building a Data Ecosystem.

ICD is an annual event that is meant to acknowledge and appreciate the role that customs officials and agencies play in ensuring the smooth flow of goods across the world borders.

The objective of International Customs Day is to boost leadership, guidance, and support to customs administrations.

IDC is celebrated all across the world with the United Nations as the host.
